NAPSO The National Alliance of Pupil Services Organizations (NAPSO) is a coalition of national professional organizations whose members provide and support a variety of school-based prevention and intervention services to assist students in becoming effective learners and productive citizens. NAPSO organizations represent over a million members, including school counselors, school nurses, psychologists, school psychologists, social workers and school social workers; occupational therapists, physical therapists, art therapists, dance/movement therapists, and music therapists; speech-language pathologists and audiologists; teachers, students, parents, and administrators. NAPSO promotes interdisciplinary practice and collaboration and advocates for ensuring access to quality pupil services for all students. NAPSO member organizations are bound together by our common vision to bring all students, in all states, the programs and professional support services they need to insure success in school. Specialized instructional support services (SISS) include prevention, intervention, transition and follow-up services. Specialized Instructional Support Personnel (SISP) provide direct services such as education, therapy, counseling, assessment, and diagnosis for all children and youth who are experiencing problems that interfere with learning. They also provide consultation, professional development, parent education, community linkage, and program administration. Additionally, pupil services personnel provide ispecial education and related services that are required by law for students with disabilities. The Mission of NAPSO is: To ensure all students have the supports, services, and skills necessary to succeed in school and life. NAPSO Values: Access to Opportunities for Student Development, Success and Empowerment. NAPSO believes all students should have access to the supports and services they need, in the least restrictive environment, to achieve optimal development, academic and personal success, and empowerment through the lifespan. Inclusiveness. NAPSO values inclusiveness among the diverse professions of specialized instructional support personnel in the service of all students belonging in and succeeding in schools. Equity. NAPSO believes in the equitable distribution of services and supports so that all students are able to succeed. Licensed/Credentialed, Qualified Professionals. NAPSO member organizations are committed to ensuring that there are enough qualified, state or profession licensed/credentialed, experienced and dedicated service providers to meet the need. NAPSO further believes that these professionals are integral to students' lifelong competence and success. Health and Well-Being of the Whole Child. Professionals represented by NAPSO promote the well-being and physical and mental health of the whole child, which is critical to the lifelong success of the students we serve. Collaboration. We recognize that through the collaboration of our organizations and our members in schools, districts and states, we can best achieve our mission.
